A brand new film set amongst New York’s club scene is set to land in cinemas across the US, UK and Ireland after premiering at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Club Kid , which is written and directed by Jordan Firstman and also features him as a central character, debuted in Cannes in May, where it received a seven-minute standing ovation.

The 120-minute comedy-drama follows a “washed-up” party promoter living and working in New York as he learns to balance his party lifestyle with caring for a 10-year-old son that he never knew he had.

Club Kid stars Firstman as said party promoter, and also features Cara Delevingne as his business partner and Diego Calva as his son’s social worker, as well as musicians including Shygirl, River Moon, and Saturn Risin9.

The trailer for  Club Kid shows scenes of gritty, night-time New York City drenched in neon and graffiti, with scenes of sunrises at the afters and sweat-soaked nightclubs by night.

The film is set to land in cinemas across the US for a "limited time" on November 6, with an official release date still to be scheduled for the UK and Ireland, though a spokesperson told  Mixmag that it’s "coming soon".

In an interview with  Deadline , Firstman – who makes his directorial debut with  Club Kid – said that he was inspired to create the film after a break-up with a partner he regularly partied with.

"He was in Berlin, and so I had just a lot of exposure to that scene and was just partying a lot myself and finding myself at this crossroads where the drugs were not hitting like they used to," he explained.
