Mojave Grey swung by to chat about their latest release, "Heavenly" with Black Circle, and the evolution of their distinctive desert-inspired sound ahead of their forthcoming album .

Los Angeles-based producers and multi-instrumentalists Zander Bleck and Michael Pozzi , better known as Mojave Grey , are one of the most exciting live acts to emerge from the scene. Their music draws on a distinctive fusion of house and rock sensibilities, combining organic percussion and warm electronic grooves into what they call "desert dance music," a sound shaped as much by the landscape around them as by the dancefloor.

Inspired by the Mojave Desert, their music carries a woozy, sun-soaked feeling, a hypnotic quality that makes listeners feel both grounded and dreamy. A sense of escape sits at the center, slowing the perception of time. Their latest release, " Heavenly " on Armada Records , brings that sensibility into sharper focus, showcasing Mojave Grey's melodic storytelling alongside Albanian-Swiss producer Black Circle. The song unfolds at its own pace, built around soft-edged synths and an airy arrangement, with Black Circle laying the instrumental foundation while Mojave Grey brings their live instrumentation, lyrical magic, and vocals to create a dynamic synergy throughout the production.

Hi Mojave Grey, thanks for chatting with us today. Let's talk about your new tune, "Heavenly." What does this track mean to you personally?

“Heavenly” is about those rare moments where everything feels right. Being with someone or somewhere and wishing you could stay in that moment a little longer. We wanted the song to feel euphoric and cinematic, but still personal.

How does “Heavenly” fit into the larger story of the upcoming album?

It felt like the right song to introduce this next chapter because it has so much of what Mojave Grey is about. Electronic music, guitars, vocals, live instrumentation, and emotion. It still sounds like us, but I think you can hear where we’re headed.

What more can you tell us about the album?

It’s the clearest version of Mojave Grey we’ve made so far. Some songs lean more electronic, some more rock, and there are some more stripped-back moments too. We’ve stopped thinking as much about genre and just focused on making music that feels like us. Some collaborations and surprises are coming too.

What draws you to the intersection of rock and electronic music?

That intersection is basically why we started Mojave Grey. We love the energy and hypnotic side of electronic music, but we also love guitars, vocals, and the feeling of a real band playing together. We’ve never wanted to choose between the two. This album is probably the furthest we’ve pushed both sides.

Is there something specific you hope people take away from this new chapter?

For people who already know us, I hope it feels like Mojave Grey evolving into something bigger. And for someone hearing us for the first time, I’d love for them to hear something that feels familiar but also like its own world. That’s always been exciting to us.

Can you share what you're looking forward to about the upcoming shows?

Honestly, just playing this music live. The songs always take on another life when we play them as a band. We’ve gotten to play some incredible places this year, and seeing people connect with the music in completely different parts of the world has been amazing.

What else can fans expect for the rest of 2026?

A lot more music and a lot more shows. The album is the big focus, and we’re continuing to build the live show around it. It feels like everything we’ve been working toward with Mojave Grey is starting to come together.
